ENS seeks DAO approval to activate ENSv2 on Ethereum
Ethereum Name Service founder Nick Johnson submitted an executable draft proposal asking the ENS DAO to approve activation of ENSv2 on Ethereum mainnet. The proposal would begin a migration to the upgraded naming system while preserving existing domain renewal behavior.
If approved, new registrations on the original ENS registrar would pause temporarily during the transition. Existing holders would not be forced to migrate simply to renew their names. The request is a governance proposal, not evidence that ENSv2 has already been activated.
Naming systems are foundational infrastructure for wallets and applications, so compatibility and transition rules matter almost as much as new features. The DAO must approve the change before it takes effect.
