Quandela announces photonic quantum processor link to NVIDIA

Quandela announced a hybrid quantum-computing demonstrator for NVIDIA GTC Berlin in which an AI workflow on NVIDIA DGX Spark exchanges data with a controller for its photonic quantum processor. The system uses NVIDIA NVQLink and an FPGA-based controller to explore low-latency interaction between classical compute and an optical quantum device.

The demonstration is an integration milestone rather than proof that a quantum processor speeds up ordinary AI workloads. It shows the interface architecture and control path that might be needed before photonic QPUs become practical accelerators in mixed high-performance computing environments.

Unlike conventional photonic AI chips, the quantum processor encodes information in quantum states of light, so its potential applications and performance constraints are different.
