IonQ reports kilohertz-scale photonic quantum interconnect

IonQ reported a photonic interface connecting a trapped-ion qubit with a silicon-vacancy quantum memory at an entanglement rate exceeding 1,000 per second. Linking different qubit systems could help modular computers exchange quantum states.

The result addresses quantum networking between subsystems, not the error-corrected application performance of a full computer. The performance figure comes from IonQ's announcement and needs to be assessed in the context of fidelity and operating conditions.
