ChipAgents raises $60 million to expand Nvidia partnership

ChipAgents, a startup that builds AI agents for semiconductor design work, raised $60 million in an expanded round of its Series A financing. B Capital led the round, with existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Micron, MediaTek and Ericsson also participating.

The company is also expanding its partnership with Nvidia to include development of a specialised AI model built specifically for chip design, rather than adapting a general-purpose model to the task. ChipAgents chief executive William Wang declined to say whether Nvidia holds a stake in the company.

Backing a model trained narrowly for one task, rather than adapting a general one, is a bet that specialised training beats scale once the job is this specific.
