DeepSeek opens its Search and Fetch APIs
DeepSeek has opened Search and Fetch as developer APIs backed by its own search engine. Search finds pages; Fetch retrieves their content. Both are billed per successful request rather than by the number of tokens or returned results.
The listed price is $0.75 per 1,000 successful requests for each service. Failed requests, empty search results and retrieval timeouts are excluded. A temporary exemption covers certain server-side calls through supported coding tools until November 1 in Beijing time.
Separating discovery from retrieval gives developers more control over research costs. It still leaves the application responsible for judging whether a source supports the answer.
