Google announces Gemini 4 Argon
Google announced Gemini 4 Argon, a frontier model designed for long-horizon software engineering, financial and legal work, and cybersecurity defence. The model supports a one-million-token context window and is initially rolling out through Google's Fairwind programme to selected cyber defenders.
Google says Argon can sustain deeper reasoning across extended workflows and autonomously patch software vulnerabilities. The company is also participating in the US government's voluntary pre-release access process and says it will gather feedback from early testers before expanding distribution.
The announcement is not a broad public release. Argon's strongest claimed capabilities are arriving first behind trusted-access controls, making the conditions around who can use the model part of the launch itself.
