Atomiq halts Bitcoin swaps on Starknet after AI attack
Atomiq, the infrastructure provider behind Bitcoin swaps into Starknet, took its swap routes offline after detecting what it described as a sophisticated AI-assisted attack on its operations. The service enables zero-slippage swaps between native bitcoin, including Lightning Network payments, and Starknet-based assets such as strkBTC, making it a key bridge for Bitcoin liquidity entering the zero-knowledge rollup.
Atomiq said no user funds were lost, and its web application remains reachable so that users with swaps already in progress can claim refunds. Starknet developers are working with the Atomiq team on a new integration meant to restore bridging within days rather than weeks.
AI-generated code has so far mostly meant faster reconnaissance in crypto security; turning it against a bridge's own infrastructure is a narrower, more direct use of the same tools.
