Bitcoin falls as Treasury yields climb
Bitcoin fell towards $84,000 as US government bond yields moved sharply higher and technology shares weakened. The 10-year Treasury yield reached roughly 5.06 percent during the session, increasing the return available on lower-risk dollar assets.
The move followed bitcoin's earlier recovery above $80,000 and came alongside losses in US equities. Higher yields can tighten financial conditions and raise the opportunity cost of holding assets that do not produce cash income.
The simultaneous moves do not prove that bond yields alone caused the crypto decline. Bitcoin trades continuously across global venues, and positioning, liquidations and fund flows can amplify or offset the effect of macroeconomic news during a particular session.
