Bitcoin holds above $64,000 as Hormuz deal nears

Bitcoin traded above $64,000 and ether held near $1,870, both little changed in early trading. Volumes stayed thin as investors weighed two catalysts: a possible deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to shipping, floated by President Trump as imminent, and Friday's July jobs report.

Iranian and Omani negotiators had finalised a draft agreement and were awaiting approval from Iran's supreme leader. The proposed arrangement would route inbound tankers through Iranian-controlled waters and outbound vessels through an Omani-controlled route, with fees charged for security and environmental upkeep. The strait carries roughly a fifth of the world's oil and gas exports, and its earlier closure had pushed up fuel prices well beyond the region.

A resolution would remove one of the few macro risks currently weighing on crypto markets, leaving the jobs report as the next scheduled catalyst for price direction.
