Bitcoin opens the week below $63,000

Bitcoin opened Monday trading at $62,829.64, down 0.3 percent from Sunday's open, after closing the previous week at roughly $62,900, a decline of 3.08 percent. Ether opened at $1,874.10, down 0.4 percent on the day, following a weekly drop of 1.81 percent that left it short of the $1,900 mark.

The total cryptocurrency market capitalisation fell 2.27 percent over the week, with XRP slipping below $1 and ADA recording the sharpest decline among major tokens. Trading volumes stayed thin through the weekend, a pattern typical of sessions when institutional desks are largely offline, leaving prices to drift within a narrow range rather than test new levels in either direction.

A weekly decline spread evenly across bitcoin, ether and the broader market points to broad-based selling rather than weakness concentrated in a single asset.
