Crypto retreats as oil and yields rise

Bitcoin fell 1.46 percent to about $77,431 in the 24 hours ending at midnight UTC on Wednesday. Ether declined 1.99 percent to approximately $2,418, according to KuCoin's daily report.

The weakness extended beyond digital assets. The Nasdaq lost 1.03 percent and the S&P 500 fell 0.71 percent in the preceding session. Brent crude rose roughly 4.6 percent to $94.65, while the US 10-year Treasury yield reached about 4.79 percent.

Higher energy costs complicated the inflation outlook at the same time as bond yields increased the return available outside riskier markets. Bitcoin and ether were moving with that broader pressure, reversing their firmer start to September.

The alignment across markets matters. Crypto's decline came alongside changes in the cost of energy and capital, rather than an isolated sell-off in a single token.
