MoneyGram launches a stablecoin-backed Visa card
MoneyGram launched a stablecoin-backed Visa card on Thursday, initially available in Colombia. Customers can manage a dollar-denominated balance in the MoneyGram app and add the digital card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.
The product combines Rain's card infrastructure, Crossmint's wallet technology and the Stellar network. Users can spend through Visa or transfer funds to themselves for collection in local currency at a MoneyGram location.
A physical card is planned for late 2026, with further countries expected to follow. Those extensions remain separate from the digital product available at launch.
The card broadens what a remittance balance can do once it arrives. Connecting stablecoins to an existing spending and cash-distribution network may matter more to recipients than knowing which blockchain carries the underlying transfer.
