SPARC review maps the shared infrastructure behind nerve therapies

A new Bioelectronic Medicine review examines the NIH SPARC initiative's contributions to peripheral-nerve technology. The program combined nerve mapping, device development, translational studies and data and modeling infrastructure.

These resources address a recurring problem in neuromodulation: knowing which nerve fibers an electrode reaches and how that activation relates to an organ's response. Reusable anatomical data and simulation tools can make those questions easier to investigate across laboratories.

The review describes a research infrastructure effort. Access to better maps and models does not replace clinical validation, but it can reduce duplicated work before a device reaches that stage.
