QCi scales Dirac-3S optimisation system towards 10,000 variables
Quantum Computing Inc. announced Dirac-3S, the next version of its photonic quantum optimisation machine. The system uses a 5U base unit with expansion modules and is designed to support problems involving up to 9,980 variables, roughly ten times the scale of the company's existing 1,000-variable configuration.
QCi says it demonstrated practical computation on synthetic problems from 2,000 to 9,980 variables and found the known optimum across all tested instances. The company also reported results on DIMACS maximum-clique benchmarks and expects the first customer shipment in November 2026.
Those performance figures come from QCi's own technical review and concern a specialised optimisation system. They do not establish a general-purpose quantum advantage or show that the same scaling behaviour will hold across independent customer workloads.
