Quantinuum and UWA expand access to Helios
Quantinuum and the University of Western Australia signed a memorandum of understanding to expand access to quantum computing and develop skills around hybrid quantum, AI and high-performance computing workflows.
Under the agreement, UWA-affiliated researchers, students and entrepreneurs will receive access to Quantinuum's full-stack computing environment, including its Helios system. The partners say they plan to focus application work on sectors important to Australia's economy, including critical minerals, energy, agriculture and healthcare. The collaboration also includes workforce development and support for translating research into commercial projects.
The agreement adds an academic access point for Quantinuum's hardware and software in Australia rather than announcing a new processor or performance milestone. Its significance is in putting advanced quantum systems closer to domain researchers who can test where quantum methods might complement existing AI and HPC tools.
