Google releases Gemini 3.8 Flash and Cyber
Google released Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber, its third Flash update in six weeks. The models share a foundation but target different uses: general software engineering and agent tasks for Flash, and vulnerability detection and automated patching for the Cyber variant.
Flash retains the introductory prices of Gemini 3.7 Flash: $0.75 per million input tokens and $3.75 per million output tokens. Cyber is available to trusted defenders through Google's Fairwind programme. Google reported improvements in longer software-engineering tasks and specialist reasoning, attributing part of the progress to cybersecurity training.
The company also cautioned that 3.8 can use more reasoning steps and tool calls on difficult work, particularly at higher effort settings. Gemini 3.7 remains supported.
An unchanged token price does not guarantee an unchanged task cost. More capable agents can consume more tokens before returning a result.
