NVIDIA expands its open-model portfolio at GTC Berlin

NVIDIA expanded its open-model portfolio at GTC Berlin on October 21. The announcement includes Nemotron language and retrieval models, Kumo models for structured business data, Cosmos world models and tools for biology and quantum computing.

The releases address different workloads. Retrieving relevant documents, forecasting from business tables and modeling a physical environment require different data and evaluation methods, even when they sit inside one agent workflow.

Open weights give organizations more room to adapt and host a model themselves. They do not remove the need to test task accuracy, deployment cost and the permissions attached to the data being used.
