Google unveils Pixel 11 with deeper Gemini integration

Google unveiled the Pixel 11 lineup, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, built around its new Tensor G6 chip, alongside the Pixel Watch 5 and a $29 tracker called Pixel Tag. The launch doubled as a showcase for Gemini Intelligence, with some Gemini functions now running on-device without an internet connection.

Google's DeepMind division introduced a Sign Language to Text engine inside Gemini, letting deaf and hard-of-hearing users sign into Gboard and Live Transcribe instead of typing. Gemini's task automation was extended across more apps, letting the assistant place orders, complete bookings and call businesses directly on a user's behalf. Gboard also gained Rambler, a dictation feature that strips filler words and run-on phrasing from speech before it reaches the screen.

Running Gemini locally rather than in the cloud is the more consequential change beneath the hardware refresh, shifting the constraint on a phone assistant from model capability to on-device silicon.
