Anthropic in talks to buy Decart for $6 billion

Anthropic is in talks to acquire Decart, an Israeli AI startup backed by Nvidia, in a deal valued at approximately $6 billion. The negotiations are advanced but not finalised, and could still fall through before a deal is signed.

Decart builds inference and chip-efficiency software, including Lucy, a real-time video-editing model, and Oasis, a simulated environment used to train robotics and autonomous-driving systems. A completed deal would be Anthropic's largest acquisition to date, and comes as the company works to expand the compute infrastructure supporting surging demand for Claude ahead of a planned initial public offering.

Buying inference-efficiency expertise outright, rather than licensing it, signals how much weight a model lab now puts on squeezing more output from the compute it already has.
