Ethereum schedules Glamsterdam testing on Hoodi

The Ethereum Foundation announced a Hoodi testnet schedule for Glamsterdam on October 16. The plan called for activation on October 26 and a gas-limit increase to 200 million, giving operators another environment to test the upgrade before a mainnet decision.

Testnets exercise the interaction between execution clients, consensus clients, validator software and block-building infrastructure. A scheduled activation is an opportunity to discover compatibility problems, rather than evidence that every component is ready for mainnet.

The schedule was subsequently postponed on October 22. The Foundation's update on the same announcement supersedes its original activation instructions.
