LayerZero introduces Aerie for post-quantum signature aggregation

LayerZero Labs and collaborators introduced Aerie on October 16. The research system uses a lattice-based proof scheme to aggregate post-quantum signatures, reporting 32,768 Falcon-512 signatures in 0.65 seconds on an M4 Max laptop using 16 CPU cores.

Signature aggregation matters because replacing today's signatures with larger post-quantum alternatives can add substantial bandwidth and verification work to a blockchain. The benchmark shows progress on one part of that cost.

It is a research result under specified hardware and workload conditions. Integrating the construction into a live protocol still requires examining the full proof format, security assumptions and verification costs.
