Blockstream warns of phishing after Liquid incident

Blockstream warned that impersonators were exploiting the recent Liquid Network incident to target users with phishing messages. The company described emails, lookalike websites and direct messages posing as Liquid, Blockstream or support staff.

The lures include supposed security updates, reimbursement checks, recovery addresses and requests to re-peg assets. Blockstream said the incident does not require users to reveal recovery phrases, move funds or install software sent through unsolicited messages.

The warning directs users to official websites and applications for updates. It also distinguishes genuine support channels from accounts that initiate contact and press for urgent action, a common feature of the reported attempts.

A protocol incident can create a second wave of losses when attackers turn uncertainty into believable instructions. Clear recovery communication matters because users are most likely to seek help while the underlying problem is still being resolved.
