Switchboard sets deadline for ending oracle support

Switchboard Technology Labs announced that it would wind down its remaining operations and end support on September 25. The company, a core contributor to the Switchboard oracle protocol, urged developers to move to other providers, including Pyth and RedStone.

The team cited recent security incidents and difficult market conditions after exploring alternatives to closure. It also argued that AI tools had reduced the cost of building specialised oracle services, while tighter project budgets and greater access to direct data sources had weakened demand for intermediaries.

The announcement gives dependent applications less than a week before support ends. Their migration work involves replacing a live data dependency, rather than simply changing a supplier name: contracts and operational processes that rely on Switchboard updates need to be assessed against the replacement service's behaviour.
