Bitcoin regains $80,000 ahead of holiday trading
Bitcoin began Monday around $80,344, up 0.65 percent over 24 hours, while ether gained 1.4 percent to roughly $2,515. KuCoin's midnight UTC report showed the market recovering ground lost after Friday's US jobs data.
Spot bitcoin ETFs had taken in approximately $175 million on Friday despite the price decline, following about $731 million the session before. Across three weeks, the report put cumulative inflows near $3.8 billion.
Bitcoin futures open interest fell from roughly $54.9 billion on Friday to $53 billion, suggesting some leveraged exposure had been removed during the sell-off. US stock markets were closed on Monday for Labor Day, delaying the next conventional equity session.
The combination of continuing fund demand and lower derivatives exposure offered a firmer base for the rebound, even with interest-rate and energy pressures unresolved.
