Bitcoin steadies below $80,000 after jobs reversal

Bitcoin traded near $79,768 on Saturday at 15:47 UTC, up about 0.43 percent over 24 hours. The Investing.com snapshot showed a modest recovery after the previous day's retreat, with the price still below $80,000.

The market was digesting August's stronger-than-expected US employment report, which had revived expectations for a Federal Reserve rate increase. That shift interrupted the advance above $82,000 earlier in the week, even as spot bitcoin ETFs continued attracting money.

Several major alternative cryptocurrencies outperformed bitcoin in Saturday's snapshot. The gains suggested some appetite for risk remained, but they had not restored the market to its earlier peak.

Fund inflows and a weaker spot price can appear together. New allocations provide demand, while existing holders and derivatives traders can still sell enough to keep the price under pressure.
