Ether falls as crypto markets await the Fed
Ether opened at $1,890.67, down 3.2 percent from the previous session's opening price, as cryptocurrency markets pulled back broadly across major tokens ahead of a widely anticipated policy announcement. Bitcoin also fell, by a smaller margin, and traded below $64,000 for the first time in several sessions.
The declines came as the Federal Reserve opened a two-day policy meeting, with its rate decision and a press conference from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh due the following day. Futures markets and prediction platforms put the odds that policymakers hold the federal funds rate at its current 3.50 to 3.75 percent range at between 83 and 85 percent.
A hold priced in this heavily rarely moves markets alone; the sharper signal is whether the pullback extends into the decision or fades first.
