Federal Reserve raises rates by quarter point
The Federal Reserve raised its target range for the federal funds rate by a quarter percentage point to 3.75–4 percent. All voting members supported the decision, with the committee describing inflation as elevated and economic activity as continuing to expand at a solid pace.
The statement highlighted resilient domestic spending, strong productivity and robust capital investment, while describing employment conditions as stable. Policymakers said future adjustments would depend on incoming information, the outlook and the balance of risks, rather than committing to a predetermined sequence of moves.
For crypto markets, the decision changes the interest-rate backdrop against which investors compare cash, borrowing costs and risk assets. It does not establish a particular direction for token prices: market positioning and expectations can produce a different immediate response from the policy change considered alone.
