SpaceX filing reveals Anthropic pays $1.25 billion a month for compute

SpaceX's S-1 filing discloses that Anthropic pays SpaceXAI $1.25 billion per month for access to Colossus 1, a 300MW cluster of roughly 220,000 GPUs. The contract runs through May 2029.

At that rate the agreement represents about $15 billion a year in compute from a single supplier, and roughly $58 billion over its full term.

The filing also describes a clause allowing Musk to cut off access if Claude is found to harm humanity. No threshold or adjudicating party for that determination is described in the excerpt.

The details became public through a securities filing rather than an announcement by either company, which is how most terms of this kind reach the record.

A discretionary termination clause held by the owner of a competing lab is unusual at this scale, placing a non-commercial condition on infrastructure Anthropic depends on.
