Intel agrees to acquire quantum software company Classiq
Intel announced an agreement to acquire Classiq on October 26. The plan combines Classiq's quantum-software synthesis platform with Intel's silicon spin-qubit research, control electronics and manufacturing capabilities.
The companies expect closing in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval and other conditions. They remain separate businesses until then. Intel says it intends to maintain Classiq's integrations with other hardware platforms after closing.
The deal is a full-stack development strategy. It does not establish that software abstraction alone resolves the hardware, error-correction and scaling requirements of a useful quantum computer.
